![]() ![]() It was very hard to write because I had to unpack a lot of really dark feelings and things that I'd gone through when I was younger and didn't understand my sexuality. So I decided to write a book that reflected my own experiences and feelings about being aro-ace.Īs this book is so personal to you, was it harder to write?ĭefinitely. The aro and ace spectrums are so vast, people can have all sorts of different experiences and feelings about things like sex, romance, and intimacy. It does! One of the reasons I wanted to write Loveless was because although I'd read several books that featured aro and ace characters, the feelings and experiences in those books weren't things I could particularly relate to. ![]() Does Georgia’s experience of being on the aro/ace spectrum reflect your own? ![]() ![]() Many recount the adventures of his friend and helper the Polar Bear – in 1926 he accidentally switched on all the Northern Lights – or the goblins who attempted to steal the stored presents in 1932. One showed his reindeer and sleigh arriving over the Oxford skyline – “your house is just about where the three little black points stick up out of shadow on the right”. Some years Father Christmas was evidently very busy, and could only pass on the briefest snippets of news, and other years, when he had time on his hands, he could include elaborate multi-layered paintings. The illustrated letters continued to arrive every Christmas Eve, sometimes delivered by a postman who had been persuaded to include them with the more boring letters and cards, sometimes materialising on the hearth rug with a handmade stamp. ![]() ![]() The 1932 letter told how goblins had attempted to steal presents stored ready for Christmas. ![]() ![]() Once started, there will be many challenges to overcome to stay on the path of success. For some entrepreneurs, overcoming fear to start a new business journey is the hardest step. Though this is not a book about entrepreneurship, per se, it certainly could be considered a motivational guide for anyone interested in pursuing business goals. Each person he encounters helps Santiago better understand himself. They include the alchemist an old fortune teller Melchizedek, King of Salem a crystal merchant an Englishman and Fatima. Each interaction with a character offers a life lesson. Santiago became a shepherd so he could journey to pursue a dream about treasure, during which he meets a variety of characters. Santiago wants to see the world because he has a thirst for knowledge and believes the most important thing he must do is fulfill his destiny. This is a fable that tells of the journey of the young shepherd Santiago who is seeking treasure. ![]() ![]() This book offers new perspective from a shepherd's challenges and learning overcome all obstacles that stand in the way is the key. ![]() The story of building your life and story transcends the ages. ![]() ![]() Polly shines amid the debutants who have flocked to London for the ‘season’ the annual series of glittering balls and big social occasions whose real purpose is to find a marriage partner. She’s the only child of an immensely rich and very aristocratic Earl of Montdore and his wife, Sonia. ![]() Love In a Cold Climate brings us the tale of Polly Hampton, more properly known as Lady Leopoldina. Not even a tiny packet of playing cards or a giant paper clip to make the effort worthwhile. Much like you do when you pull the Christmas cracker but end up with nothing more than a feeble pop and an empty roll of coloured cardboard. ![]() What I got instead was a slightly funny book parading the absurdities of a bunch of people who are supremely confident in many things, but particularly their superiority above all other mortals. Naturally, I was expecting to encounter writing that fizzed, crackled and sparkled as Mitford pricked the bubble of complacency surrounding rich, aristocratic families. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Love Story: Romeo knew he was no good for Eden. However, she has always been in love with Romeo. Since she was young she has loved Tristan because he is a good man, an accountant for the Mob, but he doesn’t get his hands dirty. The heroine: Eden – her father is in the mafia and she grew up with Romeo and Tristan Sinacore. He has a lot of blood on his hands and is good at his job. The Hero: Romeo – Mafia Capo whose job it is to kill for the family. One might say she was the female version of me. In a world where nothing mattered but staying at the top, I made sure no one slipped through my fingers. Making people believe what I wanted them to was an art I perfected. Then… I’d send them to hell after giving them nothing but heaven. I complimented when the timing was right. Though it didn’t help me get my answers any faster. Most of the time, it was when a woman was mid-orgasm-or, when I was about to take someone’s life.Īpparently, my name was mine. Can you get anymore cliche? I’d heard that damn phrase my entire life. ![]() ![]() The first Korean novel devoted to this subject, it rekindled conversations about comfort women as well as the violent legacies of Japanese colonialism. One Left is a provocative, extensively researched novel constructed from the testimonies of dozens of comfort women. Yet, when she learns that the last known comfort woman is dying, she decides to tell her there will still be "one left" after her passing, and embarks on a painful journey. ![]() The horrors of her life as a sex slave follow her back to Korea, where she lives in isolation gripped by the fear that her past will be discovered. Kim Soom tells the story of a woman who was kidnapped at the age of thirteen while gathering snails for her starving family. Since then, self-declared comfort women have come forward only to have their testimonies and calls for compensation largely denied by the Japanese government. Barely 10 percent survived to return to Korea, where they lived as social outcasts. They lived in horrific conditions in "comfort stations" across Japanese-occupied territories. ![]() During the Pacific War, more than 200,000 Korean girls were forced into sexual servitude for Japanese soldiers. ![]() ![]() ![]() By examining popular culture, family, profession and the arts, we will be looking at diversity and questioning what this concept even means anymore. ![]() The book will explore why we come here, why we stay, what it means for our identity if we’re mixed race, where our place is in the world if we’re unwelcome in the UK, and what effects this has on the education system. ![]() In these fifteen essays about race and immigration, they paint a picture of what it means to be ‘other’ in a country that wants you, doesn’t want you, doesn’t accept you, needs you for its equality monitoring forms and would prefer you if you won a major reality show competition. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With his dying father’s final words echoing through his head, Rogaan (along with his friend, Pax) sets out to find the Ebon Circle, a dangerous group of mystics that just might be the would-be Kiuri’Ner’s only hope for survival. At first glance, Rogaan’s life isn’t all that unfamiliar, save for the fact that his people live among dinosaurs! If the ever-present threat of prehistoric creatures wasn’t enough, Nikki soon bears witness to a political coup that sends Rogaan on the run for his life. When she awakens, she finds herself trapped in the memories of a young man named Rogaan. Woefully under-caffeinated and sleep-deprived, Nikki stumbles and is knocked unconscious. In their efforts to get a closer look at the newly discovered species of dinosaur, Nikki’s team makes the discovery of a lifetime: an ornate sword buried amongst the bones of creatures that presumably predate humanity by tens of millions of years. The story opens in South America, where graduate student Nikki Ricks is toiling away at an archaeological dig site. ![]() The resulting novel is an enticing introduction to an epic LitRPG (literary role playing game) series. Vonsik succeeds in blending elements from both genres with a remarkably fresh premise. With PRIMEVAL ORIGINS: Paths of Anguish, B. Fantasy writers, on the other hand, tend to set their adventures in a world resembling our (often medieval) past. More often than not, science fiction authors turn their sights to the stars, offering their readers a glimpse into the distant (or not-so-distant) future. ![]() ![]() Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834) was an English poet, critic and philosopher who was, along with his friend William Wordsworth, one of the founders of the Romantic Movement in England, and one of the Lake Poets. The Wedding-Guest's reaction turns from bemusement to impatience, fear, and fascination as the Mariner's story progresses, as can be seen in the language style: for example, the use of narrative techniques such as personification and repetition to create a sense of danger, or the supernatural, or serenity, depending on the mood each different part of the poem. The Mariner stops a man on his way to a wedding ceremony and begins to narrate a story. It relates the events experienced by a mariner who has returned from a long sea voyage. ![]() Along with other poems in Lyrical Ballads, it was a signal shift to modern poetry and the beginning of British Romantic literature. Modern editions use a later revised version printed in 1817 and featuring a gloss. ![]() The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (originally "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere") is the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, written circa 1797 and published in 1798 in the first edition of Lyrical Ballads. ![]() |
